Biography

Nadine Meertens grew up in Switzerland and after completing the veterinary medicine studies in 1997 in Bern, Switzerland, did research on the persistence of canine distemper virus at the Institute for Neuropathology of the University of Bern, completing her Swiss promotion in 2001. She returned to the Netherlands for a residency in pathology at the University of Utrecht from 2001- 2004 and worked there until 2007 as a diagnostic pathologist. She then worked for a year with transgenic mouse models at the Netherlands Cancer Institute (NKI) in Amsterdam. After passing the exams of the European Veterinary Pathology Board in 2008, she returned to diagnostic pathology by joining GD laboratory in Deventer, The Netherlands. She gives regularly lectures and teaches residents; her areas of special interest are oral pathology and dermatopathology.
