Eveline Willems, DVM
“Pigs are my passion and the pig sector continues to inspire me. I remain fascinated and involved in improvements in pig health management and the elimination of pig diseases, animal health and welfare legislation at national and European level and various research projects.”
Biography
Eveline graduated as a veterinarian from the University of Utrecht in 2009. After working at Topigs Norsvin for 14 years, Eveline started as manager of the Pig department at GD in 2024. As a pig veterinarian, she has extensive experience, both nationally and internationally, with the elimination of pig diseases, such as Mycoplasma hyopneumoniae and PRRS, and with complete depop-repops. “In my opinion, good biosecurity is becoming even more important and there is still room for improvement. We have already proven that we are able to reduce antibiotic use through improvements in company management, among other things, and still technically participate very well in the figures. However, to make even further progress, structural improvement of pig health is necessary, such as the current focus on the elimination of PRRSV. This will only provide benefits for the pig and the pig farmer in the longer term.” |
