Highlights report poultry: Duck circovirus detected in necropsies on duck

2/20/2025: 

In 2024, GD detected duck circovirus (DuCV) several times in Dutch ducks that had been submitted for post-mortem diagnostics. It is possible that this virus is not new in the Netherlands but is now being detected because of extensions to diagnostic testing.

Duck circovirus can negatively affect the bird’s defence mechanisms, resulting in poorer performance and elevated disease susceptibility. In the Netherlands, the virus is now being linked to flocks that do not grow well and in which uniformity keeps worsening as the birds get older. Read the full article
